55TH GRADUATION AT THE PARISH SCHOOL
The graduation exercises of our Parish school were held on Saturday, May 19th. After the molieben and a group photo, the faculty, students and parents assembled at the St. Alexander Hall.
The program included the granting of certificates and awards to the children.
School-leaving diplomas were awarded to: Miron Derugo, Anna Gorbunov,
Dmitry Grachev, Larisa Kavetsky and Katherina Kutin.
The valedictorian for the class of 2012 was Larisa Kavetsky.
Today's graduating class is the 55th after the founding of the parish and
school in 1936. (Some years had no graduates, because of start-up and war years.)
Special notations of gratitude for excellent service were granted to Maria Bondarev and Tatiana Salnikova, who are leaving their positions after years of devoted service to the school.
The festivities concluded with a splendid picnic and children's games on the
spacious grounds of the parish. The weather was absolutely gorgeous, with a
lot of sunshine and a light breeze.
The following day, the graduating class was honored with the traditional
White Ball at St. Alexander Hall. The spirit was one of joy with music, a
musical performance by students, dancing to the singing and music, a
delicious dinner, concluding with the traditional waltz, performed by the
boys in formal attire and lovely maidens in their white gowns. They had
outdone themselves with a most notable spectacle.
Sincere thanks to the administration, the teachers and the parents
committee for their love and efforts.

VISIT OF THE ICON OF THE KURSK MOTHER OF GOD
On Thursday, March 22nd, the feast day
of the Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebaste,
the wonder-working Kursk Root Icon
of the Mother of God visited our parish.
The icon was at the evening service on Wednesday the 21st and at the Liturgy of
the Presanctified Gifts on Thursday, which was followed by a festive lunch.
The icon was also present at the evening service on Friday, which was followed by the Akathist to the Mother of God, and during the
Divine Liturgy on Saturday, following which the icon visited the parish
school. The children thus had the rarer privilege of seeing the icon in
their classrooms and at school prayers.
